Gary Scott

Gary Scott is a producer, director and writer of prime-time factual programmes, and has a strong background in both journalism and history.

His Gibson Group documentaries include Who Ate All The Pies, Long Lost Sons, 50 Years On Their Toes, Cartoonists Inc, Aspiring, Our Day To Remember and Sex And Lies In Cambodia. He is also the producer of complex history series - Kiwis At War and Here To Stay (two series) - for TVNZ, and executive producer of the long running arts series Frontseat (98 episodes), Ultimate Garden (10 episodes) and TV3's What's Your Verdict? (5 episodes).

Gary started working in television as an assignment editor and reporter for daily news, and then moved into documentary and factual series as writer and researcher. He directed prime-time documentaries Point Of Impact: Air Accident Investigators and Flight 703: The Survivors (highly commended US International Film & Video Festival), and arts documentaries Op' Stars and Tutus & Town Halls.

Gary holds a BA in New Zealand History and has written for the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography and for the Waitangi Tribunal. He also has a post-graduate Diploma of Journalism.
