Gary Scott

Gary Scott has a strong background in both journalism and history and is a producer, director and writer of prime-time factual programmes, and assists the Visitor Attractions team with conceptualising and delivering new experiences.
 
Most recently, Gary has produced the TVNZ7 interstitials Tales from Te Papa (120 episodes) and is Executive Producer of The Court Report and Small Blacks TV (TV2). His most recent projects as producer include the popular factual documentaries How to Spot a Cult and Undercover, and NZ Detectives and Line of Fire as Executive Producer. Within the visitor experiences, he has worked on Voyagers and the award-winning OurSpace for Te Papa, Vaeggen for the Museum of Copenhagen, and Outrageous Fortune: The Exhibition for Auckland War Memorial Museum.

Other Gibson Group documentaries include Who Ate All The Pies, Cartoonists Inc, Aspiring, Our Day To Remember and Sex And Lies In Cambodia. He is also the producer of complex history series - Kiwis At War and Here To Stay (two series’) - for TVNZ, and executive producer of the long running arts series Frontseat (98 episodes), and TV3's What's Your Verdict? (5 episodes).  Gary also produces videos for the corporate sector clients including Ministry for Social Development.

Gary started working in television as an assignment editor and reporter for daily news, and then moved into documentary and factual series as writer and researcher. Prior to joining Gibson Group, he directed prime-time documentaries Point Of Impact: Air Accident Investigators and Flight 703: The Survivors (highly commended US International Film & Video Festival), and arts documentaries Op' Stars and Tutus & Town Halls.

Gary holds a BA in New Zealand History and has written for the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography and for the Waitangi Tribunal. He also has a post-graduate Diploma of Journalism.
