Is love all you need?
Does love conquer all? In the style of the critically acclaimed and award winning The Insiders Guide to Happiness, this series is not a cops or docs drama, it’s more character than plot-driven, and it embraces fresh TV ideas and storytelling techniques.
In The Insiders Guide to Love, a group of seven previously unconnected people are implicated in a bizarre incident, the outcome of which forces them to examine and explore the loves that are at the core of their own lives. And by love, we don’t just mean romantic love – there’s love of life, love of self, love for our children, love for our parents, love of heritage, love of God, love of art, love of dogs, love gone wrong, love lost, unrequited love, love of being in love….
The Insiders Guide to Love is about a whole different set of characters and events than The Insiders Guide to Happiness, but James (played by Will Hall), one of the best-loved characters from Happiness, re-appears in Love.
Well, ‘reappears’ is probably the wrong word, because Love comes before Happiness. In true Insiders style time is re-ordered and instead of James carrying all the narrative baggage from Happiness, he comes fresh to Wellington from Wanganui. Everything in Love happens before it happened…happens…, well, let's just say Love is the prequel to Happiness.
The series' musings on love, life, death and happiness are a very quirky 21st century mix of modern life views.
